Dave Colclough leads UKIPT Nottingham Day 1A
Yesterday saw the Main Event for the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Nottingham stop get under way. This is the second leg of this season’s UKIPT and the event had a buy-in of £560 and is expected to be the largest UKIPT field in history if over 1,000 players enter.
They look well on track to set that record because 478 players entered on Day 1A (yesterday) and over 500 are expected to play Day 1B (today), with Day 2 getting under way on Sunday.
As with most PokerStars live poker tournaments, a whole host of big-name players entered the tournament. Liv Boeree (who won last Sunday’s PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up) was just one of many Team PokerStars Pro’ who featured on Day 1A and many others are expected to take their seats on Day 1B.
Unfortunately for Boeree she didn’t even make it through Day 1A, finding herself eliminated early in Level 4 at the hands of Gary Haggan. The pair saw a flop of K-9-3 and Boeree bet. Haggan then meant to call her however he put too many chips in and actually made a very large raise. Due to Haggan ‘looking nervous’ as Boeree later said, she made the call and showed her pocket Eights, however Haggan flipped over pocket Jacks to send the Team PokerStars Pro to the rail.
Cash-game pro Neil Channing, and David Vamplew (winner of the 2025 UKIPT Grand Final for $1,408,407) were also in the field for Day 1A however they also failed to make it through to Day 2.
One familiar player who managed to have great success on Day 1A was Full Tilt Pro Dave ‘El Blondie’ Colclough. He managed to accumulate 224,300 chips ending the day as chip leader followed by Stuart Barnett with 205,500 chips and Carlo Citrone who has 203,600 chips.
Of the 478 players who entered Day 1A, only 99 players managed to survive and they will recommence their tournament on Sunday as they join the survivors of Day 1B.
