Sam Trickett Wins PartyPoker World Open VI

Sam TrickettTitan Poker pro Sam Trickett has won the PartyPoker World Open VI for $200,000 after defeating 6 other finalists at the Palm Beach Casino in London, England. This prestigious win brings his total live poker winnings to $1.7 million and brings alot of exposure to the 24-year old pro who can now be recognised as one of the top UK poker players. The win made 2010 his best so far in his young career taking him to over $1 million in winnings so far and the year isn’t even over yet!

The PartyPoker World Open VI attracted 47 of the best poker players in the world who all stumped up $10,000 to compete in the event which was televised and set to air in the UK later in the year. Last years defending PartyPoker World Open Champion Phil Laak attempted to defend his title but failed to make it out of his heat, finishing in fifth position meanwhile Sam Trickett was seemingly unstoppable from the beginning. In his heat he finished first after defeating Marty Smyth heads-up after a table which included Neil Channing, Lee Atherton, James Akenhead, Ian Frazer, Peter Jetten, and Dan Fleyshman.

Sam’s domination continued in the final and even from the early stages he seemed destined to win the event. He doubled up early with Pocket Kings against Dale Hoy’s Pocket 8’s and shortly after this Hoy was eliminated. Sam continued to grow his stack after sending Andrew ‘good2cu’ Robl home by cracking his Nines over Queens Full House with Quad Queens. John Duthie was also on the receiving end of Trickett as he poorly timed an all-in with 9-5 getting called by Trickett with Pocket Queens and giving him a commanding chip lead.

Once play got down to heads-up it was Sam Trickett and Yevgeniy Timoshenko left (Yevgeniy plays on Full Tilt Poker as bballer88). The final hand of the event came as Tricket was dealt 109 and Timoshenko was dealt Ace4 and when the flop came Ace510 the action heated up as Trickett made a bet, was raised by Timoshenko and then decided to call. The turn brought a 2 which Trickett check-called, and then the river brought the 9 which Trickett checked, leading Timoshenko to bet and then Trickett pushed all-in with Timoshenko making the call giving Sam Trickett the title of PartyPoker World Open Champion 2010.
