Klorinho1 Wins Sunday Million For $172K

PokerStarsPokerStars flagship weekly online tournament, The Sunday Million event, took place on the 13th this month. While it was no record-breaking tournament like the anniversary tourney held last week, it was still a good turnout. With 10,352 players all with a shot of the glamorous first place prize money, the $1.5 million guarantee was increased to a prize pool of $2,070,400.

The final table was reached when the blinds were at 200,000/400,000 and a 40,000 ante, and the players’ starting chip counts were as follows:

Seat 1: PompYouUp (11,343,854 in chips)
Seat 2: klorinho1 (12,670,302 in chips)
Seat 3: Cardinal2003 (23,738,639 in chips)
Seat 4: timmybwee (9,305,333 in chips)
Seat 5: davianvalek (6,178,952 in chips)
Seat 6: fkasbergen (12,602,124 in chips)
Seat 7: KUBIBR (6,431,600 in chips)
Seat 8: Graftekkel (11,581,650 in chips)
Seat 9: Deam0n18 (9,667,546 in chips)

When the final table action got underway, timmybwee doubled up immediately through Deam0n18 on the very first hand.

Then Deam0n18 who was one of the short stacks was all-in for his remaining chips. Graftekkel and PompYouUp both called and the board came down 2h-Qh-5h-Kc-Ks. PompYouUp showed A-4, but Graftekkel had him slightly dominated with A-7 to collect the pot after Deam0on18 mucked, exiting the tournament in 9th place.

Fkasbergen and Graftekkel got into a preflop raising war which eventually saw fkasbergen move all-in with J-J, but Graftekkel woke up with A-A. The rockets held up and fkasbergen exited in eighth place.

Next to go was KUBIBR when his flop bet was called by his opponent’s two over cards and a flush draw, with one of the over cards coming on the river, which saw him exit in seventh place for $41,408.00.

PompYouUp was out in sixth place after getting unlucky losing with a set to a straight on the river, followed by davianvalek in fifth place.

Soon after that, timmybwee shoved all in for more than 19 million chips with pocket sixes, and klorinho1 called with A-Q. The flop came down T-7-K which gave klorinho1 the straight draw, and the Q on the turn made a pair of queens. The 2 on the river didn’t change anything, sending timmybwee out in fourth place with $145,402.12.

On the very next hand, Cardinal2003 shoved with pocket fives, and klorinho1 woke up with A-Q again, spiking an ace on the river which sent Cardinal2003 to the rail in third place for $164,631.26.

With the two chip ups, Polish player klorinho1 held a solid chip advantage over his opponent when it became heads-up play against Graftekkel from the Netherlands, with nearly double the chips in play.

By the time the first break came around, Graftekkel managed to accumulate more chips and the stacks were nearly the same at one point.

But after the break, klorinho1 took control of the heads-up match. Eventually, with Graftekkel down to 19 million in chips he decided that A-9 was good enough to move all in with, but Klorinho1 called with A-A, and the aces held up to eliminate Graftekkel in second place for $201,940.54, while klorinho1 took down the Sunday Million title and first place prize money of $172,400.82.
