Bodog Poker Blocking Datamining Sites

Bodog PokerIn an announcement on February 9th, 2011, Bodog confirmed that the network has started to obstruct poker information tracking sites and prevent them from gaining access to data from the Bodog poker site.  Bodog maintains that the data tracking is a tool that is intended to provide a service for professional poker players and this blocking action is in an attempt to look after leisure poker gamers and to provide an improved gaming experience.

Information tracking in online poker is a service that is offered by sites such as PokerScout, SharkScope and PokerTable Ratings, that access information such as players’ hand histories. Players that make use of such data mining information can get their hands on gaming details regarding opponents and may therefore be in a position to examine the way in which a gamer tends to play before facing the contestant at the online poker table.  One could say that this can provide a player with an unfair advantage over the rival player. In the past, sites such as Full Tilt and PokerStars have made attempts to restrict the operations of the data mining sites. However, many of the information tracking sites do still exist.  The blocking of such tracking sites by Bodog is seemingly to keep the fun in the game and to look out for the recreational poker gamers at the site.

This attempt by Bodog to limit the use of player mining tools may result in the attraction of more casual Internet poker gamers to its site.  At Bodog a software upgrade has recently been implemented that incorporates suggestions from its clients. This modification involves an improved log-in system and simpler gaming access for players. The new lobby is user-friendly and facilitates easy navigation.

Established in 1994, Bodog is licensed in Antigua.  In addition to exciting poker entertainment, Bodog also offers an online casino and sports betting and racing services. Bodog offers a range of top poker entertainment that includes Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, 7 card stud and 5 card stud, in addition to a flourishing online poker community. Players may enjoy cash games at any time of the day or night at a range of buy-in prices.  Gamers at Bodog may also participate in varied tournament action that includes sit and goes and multi-table tournaments.
